VARANASI Swambabu 3X3

Dr Swambabu Varanasi is a post-doctoral research fellow at both BAMI and BioPRIA. His PhD focused on preparation methods of biodegradable and recyclable cellulose nanofibre membranes for ultra-filtration applications. At BAMI, Swambabu is working on two projects: Project 1: Cellulosic fibre non-woven materials for high performance applications and Project 3: Engineering specific barriers with coated paper, both of which are related to the Functional Materials platform of BAMI. Swambabu is also working with new PhD students under the supervision of BAMI Co-Director Dr Warren Batchelor and Director, Prof. Gil Garnier.

 Vikram Raghuwanshi
Dr Vikram Singh Raghuwanshi is a post-doctoral research fellow at BAMI. His work is focused on developing nanocellulose- and hemicellulose-based novel functional materials for food, biomedical and technological applications. Vikram's work also includes characterising materials by using Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), Small Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) and Reflectometry investigation methods on large scale synchrotron (X-rays) and neutron facilities. Dr Raghuwanshi is also working with current PhD students under the supervision of the Director of BAMI, Prof. Gil Garnier.

Mr Scot Sharman is a Research Assistant at both BioPRIA and BAMI in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Monash University. Trained as a chemist, Scot has been working at the Institute for the past five years. He is reponsible for maintaining the laboratories and ordering and purchasing the equipment, materials and chemicals required by researchers at BioPRIA and BAMI. Scot is also responsible for training and managing staff and students in OH&S practices and he is the Health & Safety representative for the Department of Chemical Engineering.
